There are still moms in the world who listen to recordsthough, to be fair, a lot of hipsters do that, too. Some moms read newspapers instead of putting them directly into the recycling bin while wishing that they’d stop being delivered. And some moms who eschew texting in favor of however it was that people used to communicate. Telegrams? Probably telegrams. Nicole Kidman isn’t like a regular mom, though. She’s a cool mom. And she assures everyone she regularly texts the two children she shares with her ex, actor and Couch Parkour Expert Tom Cruise. “I have four children, so to stay in touch with them it’s very important.
Her two youngest live with her and her husband, while the older two are said to live with their fatherConnor Cruise is 20 and Bella Cruise is 22by their choice, and Nicole is all about respecting their wishes. Also, their beliefs. “I’ve chosen not to speak publicly about Scientology. I have two children who are ScientologistsConnor and Isabellaand I utterly respect their beliefs.” That’s a very delicate way to phrase things. And exactly the sort of way that someone would talk about relatives whom she doesn’t want cut out of her life by a deeply controlling organization known for forcing members to cut ties with “suppressive” family members. Kidman says that she loves the people whom they’ve become. “They are generous, kind, and hardworking. And these are traits that I love to see in my children.”
We don’t doubt it. But, again, we notice how carefully she’s speaking. Anyone with family in the Church Of Scientology has to know that one wrong move, especially in public, could cause them to lose contact with that loved one forever. We’re glad that Nicole has been careful and lucky enough to keep in contact with her children. It sure would be nice if she didn’t have to walk on eggshells, though. They haven’t been seen together in public in years, but Nicole Kidman claims she still keeps in touch with her two eldest children, Bella and Connor Cruise. While many believed they had a strained relationship, the 48-year-old actress revealed she texts her adopted kids from her marriage to Tom Cruise on a regular basis. “I have four children, so to stay in touch with them is very important,” the Oscar winner told Du Jour magazine. “I’m definitely engaged in it but I don’t let it rule my life. My husband and I never text each other.” Since 2006, The Hours star has been married to country singer Keith Urban. The happy couple have two daughters, seven-year-old Sunday Rose and four-year-old Faith Margaret. After splitting in 2000, they allegedly chose to live with the Mission Impossible star. In 2007, Nicole raised eyebrows about her relationship with the Cruise siblings by telling England’s GMTV: “My kids don’t call me mommy, they don’t even call me mom. They call me Nicole, which I hate and tell them off for it.” Many believed that Scientology was behind their disconnection, since Bella and Connor, along with their megastar father, are still active in the Church.

Earlier this year, Nicole’s relationship with Bella and Connor was further put into question when the HBO documentary Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief claimed the Church of Scientology had a hand in turning the children against Kidman. An assertion the Church has vehemently denied. I have two children who are Scientologists—Connor and Isabella—and I utterly respect their beliefs,” the Australian actress told Women’s Weekly in 2013. While both Connor, 20, and Bella, 22, have gone on record professing their admiration for their mother in interviews, neither has been photographed with her in the last decade. A picture is worth a thousand words, thetans.

‘To stay in touch with them is very important’: Nicole Kidman says text messages and internet help preserve bond with adopted children Connor, 20, and Isabella, 22

By JASON CHESTER FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA Nicole Kidman has insisted she relies on modern technology to stay in constant touch with the two children she adopted during her 11-year marriage to Tom Cruise. The former couple adopted Isabella, 22, and 20-year-old Connor in 1992 and 1995 respectively prior to their separation and subsequent divorce in 2001.   But while Nicole, 48, has since remarried to fellow Australian Keith Urban, with whom she is a parent to daughters Sunday, seven, and five-year-old Faith, she insists her children with Cruise are still a constant in her life.

Speaking to DuJour magazine, the actress – who owns homes in Nashville and Sydney with Urban – says she relies on technology to stay in touch with the pair, who reside in Los Angeles.   ‘I have four children, so to stay in touch with them is very important,’ she said. ‘I’m definitely engaged in it but I don’t let it rule my life.   ‘My husband and I never text each other. We never do. Once in a blue moon, we’ll text. But mainly we say, “I want to hear your voice.”

She added: ‘That’s very unusual but we’ve been together for 10 years. We started like that and we haven’t changed it. We don’t email each other either. So it’s about trying to keep it as intimate and personal as possible.’   Both Connor and Isabella have embraced Tom’s belief in Scientology, with the religion cited as a wedge between Nicole and her children in director Alex Gibney’s hard-hitting documentary Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief.   The Church of Scientology have since denied the claims, while Nicole has previously refuted speculation of a divide prompted by her children’s religious leanings.

Speaking to Vanity Fair in 2013, she said: ‘I’ve chosen not to speak publicly about Scientology. I have two children who are Scientologists—Connor and Isabella—and I utterly respect their beliefs.’   The Honolulu born star is currently back in London for a run in West End play Photograph 51 – almost a year after her psychologist and biochemist father Dr. Antony Kidman died suddenly last September.   Reflecting on the tragedy earlier this year, Nicole said her young daughters with Urban were responsible for helping her to get over his death and focus on the present.   She told the August issue of US Vogue magazine: ‘Just hearing their laugh . . . it’s life in its most powerful form.’   And Nicole also revealed that she wishes she had met Urban, 47, earlier in life so they could have had more children together.   She said: ‘I wish I could have met him much earlier and had way more children with him. But I didn’t. I mean, if I could have had two more children with him, that would have been just glorious. But as Keith says, “The wanting mind, Nicole. Shut it down.”
